Chicken patties recalled after consumer complaints of plastic

recalled chicken OSI IndustriesConsumer complaints about blue plastic pieces in On-Cor branded chicken patties have spurred OSI Industries LLC to recall more than 10 tons of the product.

The Fort Atkinson, WI, company shipped the ready-to-eat chicken patties to retailers in six states — Kansas, Kentucky, Minnesota, North Carolina, Ohio and Wisconsin — according to the recall notice posted by the USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS).

“The problem was discovered when the firm received notification of three consumer complaints mentioning firm blue plastic in their product. The product was contaminated around the time a trim repair was made on belt material,” according to the notice.

Consumers can identify the recalled chicken patties by looking for the best-by date 8/5/2017 and the establishment number P-5615 in the USDA inspection mark. The 35-ounce plastic packages are printed with “ON-COR Chicken Patties MICROWAVEABLE” and were produced on Aug. 5.

“Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase,” according to the recall notice.

Consumers with questions about the recall can contact Dave Wetherton, assistant vice president of retail sales, at 844-674-8100.
