Snoqualmie Gourmet Ice Cream Reopens Tasting Room After Listeria Scare

After recalling nearly all of its ice cream produced in 2014 for possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination, Snoqualmie Gourmet Ice Cream has reopened its tasting room in Maltby, WA.

The tasting room is seasonal, reports KIRO-TV, and closed last fall before the Washington State Department of Agriculture found Listeria in samples collected from two products and environmental samples from the ice cream plant taken during a Dec. 15 inspection.

http://ift.tt/1CBBz0xSnoqualmie issued a voluntary recall of all ice cream, gelato, custard and sorbet for all flavors and container sizes produced between Jan. 1 and Dec. 15, 2014.

The plant was shut down after Listeria cases involving two 50-year-old Seattle men were linked to the same strain of Listeria found in a sample of the company’s high-protein mix.

The facility was sanitized and new equipment installed before the company resumed production in February.

Snoqualmie Gourmet Ice Cream’s tasting room reopened May 1.
