Wegmans Recalls Bagged Frozen Spinach for Potential Listeria Contamination

Wegmans, a regional supermarket chain based in Gates, NY, has recalled 12-oz. bags of frozen spinach due to potential Listeria contamination. The company stated Saturday that its supplier, Twin City Foods Inc. of Stanwood, WA, had notified Wegmans of the possibility of contamination.

The recalled product is 12-oz. Wegmans Organic Food You Feel Good About Just Picked Spinach with UPC: 77890-32932 and best-used-by dates of Jan. 26, 2017, and Feb. 2, 2017. The UPC code can be found on the back of the bag below the distributor statement.

The recalled product may be returned to a Wegmans service desk for a full refund. For more information, call Wegmans Consumer Affairs at 1-855-934-3663, Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. EDT.

Listeria infection primarily affects older adults, pregnant women, newborns, and adults with weakened immune systems, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Symptoms can include fever, muscle aches, diarrhea or other gastrointestinal symptoms.
