Coriander Powder Recalled for Possible Salmonella Contamination

Chetak New York L.L.C. of Edison, NJ is recalling “Deep Coriander Powder” because it has the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella.

The recalled Lot# LE15152 “Deep Coriander Powder” jars were distributed nationwide in retail store from July 30, 2015 to August 13, 2015. The product comes in a 14.1 oz clear plastic jar marked with the UPC number 011433134347 on the rear of the package. The lot number can be located on the bottom of the jar.

No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this problem.

The potential for contamination was noted after routine testing conducted by the FDA.

Consumers who have purchased 14.1oz jars of “Deep Coriander Powder” are urged to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.

Salmonella is an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e. infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis.
