Uncured Beef Corn Dogs Recalled Because They Were Improperly Stored

About 607 pounds of uncured beef corn dogs were recalled late Tuesday by Bristol, IN-based Monogram Comfort Foods because “they may have experienced temperature abuse in the distribution chain.

In the announcement, the USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service said the corn dogs were distributed in Colorado, Montana, New Mexico, South Dakota, Utah and Wyoming. The recalled products, produced on April 21, 2014, were described as:

  • “Applegate Naturals Gluten-free Uncured Beef Corn Dogs” with a “Best By” date of 04/21/15 in 10-ounce cartons. The establishment number inside the USDA mark of inspection should be “EST. 2512.”

During a routine inspection the corn dogs were found in dry storage, not inside of a freezer as required. It too early to know if anyone has had an adverse reactions from the improperly stored meat products. Anyone concerned about a reaction should contact a healthcare provider.

FSIS routinely conducts recall effectiveness checks to verify recalling firms notify their customers of the recall and that steps are taken to make certain that the product is no longer available to consumers. When available, the retail distribution list(s) will be posted on the FSIS website at http://ift.tt/1gO8Ec3.
