Meatloaf recalled because of undeclared allergens, wrong labels

Taylor Farms Northwest LLC of Kent, WA, is recalling meatloaf products because of misbranding and undeclared allergens.

recalled Taylor Farms Northwest meatloafThere is concern consumers may have the improperly labeled products in their homes because they have sell-by dates of Dec. 10, according to the recall notice posted by the USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service.

People with allergies or severe sensitivities to fish — anchovies — or milk could have serious or life-threatening reactions to Taylor Farms recalled turkey meatloaf with kale. The fish and milk are not listed on the product’s label.

Homestyle meatloaf from Taylor Farms is also under recall. It contains beef and pork, which are not listed on the label. Retailers in Washington and Oregon received the recalled meatloaf. Both varieties have the establishment number “EST. 34834” inside the USDA mark of inspection.

The specific meatloaf products subject to recall are:

  • 20 units of 16-ounce aluminum loaf pans with plastic lids containing 1 piece of “Turkey Meatloaf with Kale” with a sell by date of 12/10/2016; and
  • 59 units of 16-ounce aluminum loaf pans with plastic lids containing 1 pieces of “Homestyle Meatloaf” with a sell by date of 12/10/2016.

The labeling problems were discovered when a broker notified Taylor Farms Northwest.

“The firm investigated and found that the ingredient label on the bottom of the packages was incorrect, due to improper placement. The firm observed that although the correct principal display panel labels were attached to the top of the packages; the wrong ingredients statement label was attached to the bottom of the packages,” according to the recall notice.

Consumers with questions about the recall can contact Kerri Tate, the quality manager at Taylor Farms Northwest LLC at 253-548-5174.
