Armour recalls animal crackers for undeclared peanut residue

Armour-Eckrich Meats LLC of Lisle, IL, has announced that it is voluntarily recalling Armour® Snackmakers Keebler Animal Crackers because they may contain flour with undeclared peanut residue.

Armour SnackMakers animal crackersWhile consumers with severe peanut allergies should avoid the recalled products, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has stated that the amount of peanut exposure from the flour is low and not expected to cause adverse health effects in the vast majority of consumers who are allergic to peanuts.

The company stated that it has received no reports of related illness to date and is taking this action out of an abundance of caution.

The following recalled product was distributed nationwide: Armour® Snackmakers Keebler Animal Crackers, UPC Code 27815 00240, 2.7 ounces, with a sell-by date of 07/29/16 – 8/30/16 (located on the side of the package).

No other Armour® Snackmakers products are impacted by this recall. Armour® is asking that people who purchased affected product discard it and contact the company for a full refund.

Consumers with questions can call 1-877-933-4625, Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. until 6 p.m. ET.

There have been several recent recalls involving undeclared peanut allergen in flour. Some of these recalls have been linked to flour provided by Grain Craft of Chattanooga, TN, which recalled its product.
